BWCA and Superior National Forest
Located along the U.S./Canadian border in northern Minnesota, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) is a rugged and pristine wilderness of over one million acres. There are no roads to the interior of the BWCA and motorized traffic is restricted to just a few designated lakes making canoe, snowshoe, and dogsled, the dominant method of travel. The BWCA is a part of the three million acre Superior National Forest consisting of over 445,000 acres of lakes and 2250 miles of streams. Timberwolves, bald eagles, and the northern lights are common and each encounter is memorable.
